Life at Park: Worship Ministry
Hello Park Avenue Church,
The Worship Ministry at Park brings together many voices and gifts to shape our Sunday morning worship. Alongside preaching and music, volunteers help lead responsive readings, intercessory prayer, and offering, creating a full and meaningful experience of worship. This ministry reminds us that worship is a shared act of faith, and we invite you to consider stepping into these roles. As our new season starts, we are seeking committed individuals within our congregation to prayerfully consider taking part in helping lead Responsive Readings, Intercessory Prayer & Offering Time.
Responsive Reading Leaders
Responsive readings are a form of worship where the leader and the congregation take turns reading passages from Scripture in a call-and-response format. They are meant to create interactive participation from everyone during the service in reading God’s word together. Individuals or families are welcome! Readings are provided beforehand to allow you a chance to get familiar with the passage.
Offering Leaders
Offering leaders introduce offering time, read a pre-selected scripture, ask the ushers to come forward to collect the offering, and say a prayer over the offering once it’s been collected. You may also feel inclined to provide a brief explanation of why you give or the importance of giving to the church.
Intercessory Prayer is the act of praying on behalf of others. In the United Methodist Church, it’s considered a vital ministry through which we lift the needs of individuals, communities, the church, and the world to God through prayer. It is a spiritual practice rooted in love, compassion, and faith in God’s power to heal, guide, and transform. This is a sacred calling to stand in the gap for others through intentional prayer.
If you’d like to expand your worship life here at Park by taking on an active role during our Sunday services, please reach out to info@parkavechurch.org and we can help you get started.
With warm regards,
Cynthia Vaughn
