Park Avenue United Methodist Church is embarking on an effort to build Christian Spiritual Formation at Park Avenue, "Learning, Loving, Living in the Kingdom."Check here for child care availability. The fall schedule starts September 7th. The classes offered are listed below.

Basic Christian Doctrines (Dining Room, Rear)
As a follow up to a class held this spring called the “What We Believe retreat”, a class will be offered this fall to learn and understand our core foundational Christian beliefs. It will be presented over 12 weeks, going more in depth than the 3 primer classes offered this past summer. Areas to be presented include what we believe about the Bible, God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, Human Beings, Salvation, Christian Living, and the Church. Class leaders: Jeremy Brantingham and Phil Sherwood
Bondage Breakers (Upper Level Foundation)
Class on Spiritual Warfare focused on overcoming negative thoughts, irrational feelings, and habitual sins. Class leader: Bill McClusky
Experiencing God (Homework Room)
Beginning this fall, all the children, youth and adults of PAUMC are invited to Learn in the
kingdom through the “Experiencing God” study. This study challenges Christians to experience the fullness of a life lived in a fellowship with a loving, personal God. God reveals Himself to each of us in special and exceptional ways, so our perception of Him is unique. “Experiencing God” shows you how to deepen your own personal relationship with God and discover your special place in His kingdom. The study includes video presentations, workbook activities, small group discussion and individual Bible study.
Lord’s Festivals--God’s Appointed Times (Lower Level Foundation)
This class will be 12 weeks long and will present teaching from Mark Biltz, a Messianic Jewish pastor, via a DVD. We will be watching the DVD for half of the class, followed with discussion. We will be studying 6 major feast/festivals: Passover, Feast of First Fruits, Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost), Feast of Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashanah), Yom Kippur and Feast of Tabernacles. We will learn their implications for our Christian life and gain understanding of our Jewish roots. Study guides and notes will be provided. Class leader: Scott Bookhout
Walk Through Lectionary (Dining Room Front)
In this class we will study the texts of the Lectionary calendar, as they are used in Sunday worship service and Children’s Sunday School at Park Avenue. This class is recommended for those who want to enhance their worship service experience by going deeper into the texts used for readings and the sermon. This class is also good for studying the Bible in parallel with your children. Finally, it is good for understanding church seasons and Christian worship services. Class leader: Jon Urban (urba0026@umn.edu or 612-379-8083).
