Neighborhood OutreachThe Social Concerns Commission (SCC) works to enable Park Avenue Methodist Church to reach out to the urban community in which it is anchored. Based on the Biblical mandate to serve and love our neighbors, we strive to address their physical, spiritual and social needs. SCC supports ministries that reach out to the community around the churches physical location. Our Neighborhood partners include: The DinoMights
The DinoMights equip urban youth to develop physical, academic, social, and spiritual excellence. The philosophy of the DinoMights is centered around maintaining relationships with the youth involved, from their elementary years though high school graduation, and providing them with the various kinds of support they need to become self-assured, competent adults. Students learn how to build electronic gadgets that really work. Projects include lasers, stereo speakers, and sirens. Best of all, they keep everything they build. Students are taken on field trips to different companies in the Minneapolis area where they meet professionals working with industrial equipment to make microchips and other products. This year we will be building speaker / amplifier systems so you can play your tunes, loudly ! Check out the Tronixteam.org Website for registration and the Tronix schedule. The Banyan Foundation
